You will find Tongariro Lodge in a beautiful 22-acre setting just outside of Turangi, to the north-east of the National Park. Overlooking the Tongariro River it was established in 1982 as a good quality fishing lodge but also offers an excellent base for those exploring the region in other ways. Accommodation consists of spacious, stand-alone chalets and villas, all with a fridge, TV, tea and coffee making facilities, and WiFi. The one-bedroom chalets are good value and perfect for a couple, whilst larger villas offer two to five bedrooms and provide more space for a family. The restaurant serves meals inspired by local ingredients and a hamper lunch can be arranged to take with you on your day of adventure. Transfers can be arranged from the town of Turangi to and from the Tongariro Crossing but if you’d rather not go too far then the lodge has a secluded spa pool, all weather tennis courts, and some superb views.
