Perched on a hillside overlooking the town of Oban and Halfmoon Bay, and nestled amongst native bush and a chatter of birdsong, Stewart Island Lodge is a lovely retreat for your time on the island. From here’s it’s a five-minute downhill walk to the main town and around ten minutes to the wharf from which the boat-based sightseeing and nature tours depart. Each of the comfortable en suite rooms has one king or two twin beds, fridge, television and tea and coffee making facilities. They all open out on to a large shared balcony with impressive views, and the communal guest lounge has a similarly wonderful outlook. A continental breakfast is included in your stay but there is no restaurant therefore guests will need to walk to one of the local pubs/restaurants for other meals. Complimentary transfers are available from/to the ferry terminal and airport.
