The Tasman Glacier is New Zealand’s longest, and this heli-hike is a truly memorable way experience its staggering beauty up close. Departing by helicopter from Mount Cook Airport you will fly high over the glacier and land at 1,200 metres above sea level. You will then spend up to two hours with an experienced guide, exploring the shapes and sounds of the ice and learning about the fascinating geology of the mountains. On the return journey you will fly close to an enormous icefall below Aoraki Mount Cook before arriving back in the village. The whole excursion takes around three and a half hours.
