The mighty Waikato River cuts through the region just south of Rotorua and North of Taupo, and this jet boat safari gets you up and close and personal to both the scenery and the wildlife of the river. You will pass native bush, steaming volcanic river banks and trout feeding areas as well as cruise through stunning Tutukau Gorge, stopping along the way to learn about the rich ecology and history of the area. Your destination is the geothermal reserve of Orakei Korako where you will have time to walk around and view the fascinating boiling mud and impressive silica terraces before returning up the river. There will be a few traditional jet boat spins along the way and so this excursion is not suitable for those with significant health issues, however, the trip is otherwise a safe option for all ages.
