The cape just east of Napier is home to the world’s largest and most accessible gannet colony and for anyone interested in birds, this excursion is a must do. You travel by comfortable 4WD vehicle through the huge farm at Cape Kidnappers, including a scenic cliff-top stop, then to a viewing point of the colony where you will have time to stretch your legs and take photos. Along the way your guide will provide informative commentary about the farm, the gannets and the general ecology and geology of the area. The tour takes around three and a half hours.
