The 60-kilometre long Abel Tasman Coastal track is one of New Zealand’s nine Great Walks. It is a relatively flat but beautiful walk that undulates through native bush and across spectacular golden beaches. It takes between three and five days to complete and there are several huts and campsites along the way. A local water taxi service operates along the coast meaning that both hikers and luggage can be transported and dropped at various points along the track, making it one of the more accessible Great Walks. This also means that if you don’t have time to walk the whole length you can arrange to be dropped off at one point and picked up further along, giving you time to explore one section of the track in a day.
